He was predeceased by: his parents, Daisy Isabelle and Cuthbert Lisle Gibbs; and his siblings, Harold Gibbs (Cassie) and Joyce Gubi (Peter). He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Pemberton of Barbados; his sister Patsy Melville; his siblings-in-law, Janet Weel and John Pemberton; and his nieces and nephews, Donna-Mary Proverbs, Susan Cole, Jane Larcombe, Anne Gubi, Peter Gubi, Lisle, James, David, Ann Gibbs, Ingrid Weel, Christine, Darcy, Eva and Max McNamara. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
