He was predeceased by: his former wife E. Carole Jelly Butler; his parents, Alton Butler and Irene Butler; his brother Kenneth (Helen); and his nephews, John and William.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his daughters, Brynn Green (Joe) and Mary Butler-Gretton (John); his grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie), Kyle (Robin), Travis (Kirsten), Dylan (Pamela), Paula (Emmett), Charlie (Hannah) and Will (Ryann); his great grandchildren, Addison, Aiden, Avy, Aera and Freddie; his stepdaughter Jill Weir-McLean (Bob); and his sister Helen McEwen (late Mendal). He is also survived by children and grandchildren.
