He was predeceased by: his parents, Erna Volkening and George Volkening; his sisters, Sigrid Zimmerman (Michael) and Marlies Kuczak (Irwin); and his parents-in-law, Charles and Josephine Ricottone.

He is survived by: his wife Grace; his sisters-in-law, Linda Meyer (late Bob) and Josette Roque; his aunt Angie; his uncle Neil Harmer; and his nieces and nephews, Irene Zimmerman (Sam Longo), Monica Arkell (Paul), Harry Kuczak (Kelly), Rose Glenister, Ursula, Peggy, Heidi Kuczak, Emma Arkell, Laura, Aislyn, Kayley Pearson and Joseph Roque.
