He was predeceased by: his former wife Vera; his wife Jean; his parents, Walter Ovens and Lizzie Ovens; his sisters, Dorothy Hewitson and Marion Brown; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Ovens and Don Watt.

He is survived by: his children, Steven Ovens (Janet) and Deanne Saunders (Ron); his stepchildren, Helen Winfield and Martin Devitt; his grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Benjamin, Jacob, Kyle and Jamie; and his siblings, Annie Proctor (Bob), Harold, Edward and Donna Watt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends.
