He was predeceased by: his wife June (McVeety); and his siblings, Adena Pilkey (late Glenn), Marie Hampel, Beatrice Hampel, Lewis Hampel (late Dane), Fred Hampel (late Ella) and Nora Moreau (late Andy).

He is survived by: his children, Theresa "Terri" Haley (Greg) of Sudbury and Rod Hampel (Chrissy) of Arnstein; his grandchildren, Krista Hampel (Marc Culin), Jamee Lemon (Aedon) and Scott Hampel (Tara); his great grandchildren, Ellah, Averie, Halle, Jayden, Dylan, Kirystyn, Lily and Shaylynn; and his sisters, Edith Alphonse (late John) of Arnstein and Lillian Barber (late Cameron) of Toronto.
