He was predeceased by: his parents, Neil "Buddy" McNeil and Margaret McNeil (MacLean); his sister Carol MacNeil; and his brother-in-law Peter MacNeil. He is survived by: his siblings, Neil (Gilbretta) of Dominion, Kim (Edward) of Dominion, Judy of Dominion, Janine of Dominion and Donnie (Michelle); his nephew Brandon of Edmonton; his stepchildren, Courtney Richer (Tony) and Bradley Leon; and his close friend Donna Steppa.

Memorial donations in memory of Darrell may be made to a charity of one's choice.
