He was predeceased by: his parents, Alec Symington and Jean Symington; his brother Donald; and his sister-in-law Doris. He is survived by: his wife Faye Symington (Wagenblass); his sons, Rod Symington (Donna) and Paul Symington (Alanna); and his granddaughters, Leah, Deanna, Madison and Sarah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
