He was predeceased by: his mother Hilda Alkema. He is survived by: his wife Anna; his children, Reuben, Isaac, Thomas and Joel; his mother Ingrid Bartels; his siblings, Will (Patricia Bartels), Melissa (Kendall Harvey), Dan (Rena Bartels), Ben (Cindy Bartels) and Sharon (Matt van Popta); and his siblings-in-law, Craig, Arlene Alkema, Brad, Deb Alkema, Tom, Alyssa Alkema, Mark, Lynsie Alkema and Lisa Alkema. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, church community, friends.
