She was predeceased by: her parents, Friederich Karl Walter Tiemann and Helene Gertrud Bergerhoff; her brothers, Achim (Heidi), Wolfgang (Margareta) and Hartmund (Marjatta); and her husband Adolf Degen.
She is survived by: her children, Wolfgang (Margot), Peter, Rainer (Diane) and Birgit (Dave); and her grandchildren, Christoph, Alexander, Sydney, Jonathan and Tyler.
Memorial Donations to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
