I smile fondly as I recall him pulling out a large physical road map of the GTA that he would use to calculate officials' mileage or receiving small slips of paper at the end of a membership meeting with my upcoming assignments. He evaluated me several times early in my career and always had a moment to discuss the profession of officiating with me. Gene was one of a kind and I will miss him.”
