He was predeceased by: his spouse Ali Looyenga; his granddaughter Shania Slater; and his siblings, Dorothy, Jacob Kuiken, Susan, Sijmon Boonstra and Bert Looyenga.

He is survived by: his children, Rick, Bonnie, Sid, Hilda, Gerald, Cheryl, Harry, Kim and Rosemary; and his sister-in-law Ann Looyenga.
