Roger Walker Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Walker announces his passing on February 1, 2021, at 63 years old. Roger was born the fifth of eight children to Robert "Bob" and Lucy Walker on April 2, 1957 in Edmonton, AB. Growing up in Westlock, AB, Roger spent much of his time working the family farm, playing fastball and Junior A hockey.
Roger was a patient, humble, and gentle soul that will be lovingly remembered by many for his generous contributions throughout the North - none to surpass his ongoing love and commitment to his family. Shortly after a move to Yellowknife in 1986, Roger met his best friend and the love of his life, Joni Teed; the two were inseparable from the start and married on July 27, 1991 in Penticton, BC.
Through their great love, Roger and Joni raised four children: Ashley (Alexander), Mathew, Bryce (Morgan), and Ryan. Much time has been spent and memories made at their "happy place" on Prosperous Lake. At any given time, Roger could be found building, taking the grandkids tubing and fishing, sipping on a rye and coke or Molson Dry, and two-stepping with Joni by the campfire.
Roger is missed dearly by his wife; children; grandchildren: Logan, Joelin, Audrey, Leo, Lilah, Georgia, Alex, Wyatt and Aidan; mother-in-law, Dorothy Orser; siblings: Jack (Cheryl), Dick, Pat (Wes), Louise (Colin), Judy, Wayne (Julia) and Wally (Laurie); many nieces, nephews and good friends. Most sincere thank you to the healthcare teams in Penticton, Kelowna and Yellowknife, who went above and beyond with care provided; with special gratitude to Dr. Christine Scott.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be make to Niemann Pick Canada (https: //http://www.niemannpick.ca or the Alhzeimer's Society of Canada (https: //alzheimer.ca/en/take-action/donate). Memorial Services for the late Roger Walker will be announced when finalized.
