“My sisters and I grew up with Michael Cheeks and his siblings in Georgetown, Guyana. He was the youngest of seven children born to Aunt Jean and Uncle Rannie. I lost track of the family after I moved away from Guyana to further my studies overseas. But Michael called me a few years ago "out of the blue", while I was a Professor at San Jose State University, and we had a lovely chat. Thankfully his beloved children Fey and Martin and the grand-kids from Montreal were able to spend precious time with him before his passing.
