He was predeceased by: his parents, Angus Elderkin and Betsy Elderkin (Paulson); his daughter Kimberly Elderkin; his siblings, William "Bud" (Ruth), Paulson "Paul" (Louise) and Laverne Rabatich (Steve Rabatich); and his niece Betsy Elderkin.

He is survived by: his wife Lorna; his daughters, Anne Curley (Willie) and Sherry Rumney (Carl Ruud); the mother of his children Joyce Portous DeWitt; his stepchildren, Michele Sharkey, Marc LeBlanc (Jane), Ottawa and Jana (Jacob); his grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Rumney; and his stepgrandchildren, Sarah Borys, Zachary Sharkey and Michael LeBlanc. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
