He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Cowl and Susan Cowl (Pratt); his son Andrew; and his sister Diane Shupe. He is survived by: his wife Bernadette (Quinn); his children, Ashley Cowl (Shaun McGrath), Amanda Cowl (Rafael Rodriguez) and Terry Cowl (Brandi); his sister Judy Clarke (Edward); and his grandchildren, Noah Cooper, Thais Rodriguez-Cowl and Gabriel Rodriguez-Cowl. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
