He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer "Bud" and Lillian Rafuse (Thompson); his wife Madelon (Taylor); and his siblings, Patsy, Shirley, Linda and Richard Thompson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Shelley Swinamer (Andy), Janice Rippey (Dani) and Martock; his grandchildren, Travis Swinamer (Jill), Jessie Swinamer and Jenna Rippey; his great grandchildren, Breagh and Macy Swinamer; his sisters, Norma Rafuse (Leon Hebb), Connie Rafuse (Wayne Young) and Brenda Rafuse (Brian Blackburn); his sister-in-law Faye Thompson; and his pet Miss Kitty. He is also survived by several nieces; and one nephew.
