He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Smith and Phyllis Smith; his son Lincoln Smith (Gina); and his siblings, Fred Taylor, Helen Smith, Leslie and Carol.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Jesse, Jarred, Kyle, Madison and Allanah; his wife Linda Copas-Smith; his children, Adele Copas (Stephen Harvey), Lisa Smith-Altheim (Terry Brige), Jessica Smith-Lampreau (Erin Lampreau), Jerry Smith and John Copas (Traci); his grandchildren, Jake Hughes (Breanna Turner), Rachel Smith, Justin Spencer, Nathan Smith (Rachel Bruha), Matthew Smith, Ava Copas and Wyatt Copas; and his siblings, Clydie Smith (Diana), Heather Smith, Margaret Rooney (Adrian) and Sandra Smith-Northup (Chris). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
