He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Whynot and Lillas Whynot (Deal); and his brothers, Douglas, Leaman, Curtis, Raymond and Roland.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn (Garber); his children, Rodney (Corinna) and Cathy Grandy; his siblings, Verlene Henderson, Keith and Hazen; his granddaughter Melissa Risser (Barrett); and his great grandchildren, Eden Risser, Felicity Risser and Besides.
