He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Bassett and Ursa "Madeline" Bassett (Oickle); and his wife Betty. He is survived by: his close friend Janet Myers; his children, Colin Bassett, Charity Bassett, Northwest and Sarah Bassett; and his grandsons, Brandon and Brian Rhodenizer.
