He was predeceased by: his daughter Carla Zugay; his parents, Willis Johnson and Ann Johnson; and his siblings, Alex Penney, Vincent Penney, Glenn "Hubba" Fields, Gladys Jackson, Roberta Penney, Frances Penney and Johnnie Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Judy; his children, Krystale Penny (Edwin), Scott Zugay (Lee-Ann), Dundas of Ontario and William Wilson (Karen); his grandchildren, Melissa Decoff, Ashley Wilson, Lilly Fraser and Harrison Fraser; and his brothers, David "Beaver", Gregory Johnson (Delores) and Springville.

Donations can be made in Billy's name to the VON of Pictou County.
