He was predeceased by: his parents, Hector Gardiner and Clara Gardiner (McSween); his significant other Joyce; and his siblings, Mary Houle, Grace Amelia "Millie" Pigeon, Dr. William "Bill" Gardiner, Raymond Gardiner, Albert Gardiner, Rev. Harold "Howie" Gardiner, Roy Gardiner, Frederick Gardiner, Donald Gardiner and Kevin Gardiner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Maureen MacIvor of Westville and Paula Gardiner of Dartmouth; his grandchildren, Melissa MacIvor (Brad Holmes), Angela MacIvor (Jeff Gill), Megan Clarke (Nick) and Dylan MacDonald (Alyson Clayton); his great grandchildren, Chloe, Harley, Isabella, Adalynn, Isla, Kensley, Declan and Kendall; and his sister Audrey Cameron of New Glasgow. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
