He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Chennell and Isabella "Ella" Chennell (Dunbar); his siblings, John, Frank (June), Anne Watters (Jackie) and Joan; and his son-in-law Bruce Christison.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Nancy McLeod, Gordon Chennell (Bev) and Janie Gordon (Joe Scully); his grandchildren, Nicholas McLeod (Morgan), Cale, Ty and Noa; his children, Mitchell McLeod (Laurel), Lachlan, Nathan Christison, Robbie Gordon (Amanda), Aubree and Addison; his grandchildren, Megan Little (Kolbe), Elijah and Violet; his children, Maren and Jillian Sturtevant (Garth); and his stepson Jim Linthorne.
