He was predeceased by: his parent Horace Notley; and his son-in-law Bill Gillespie. He is survived by: his parent Eve Notley (Allwork); his wife Maureen; his children, Paula Gillespie (John Murchison) and Mike of Greenhill; his granddaughters, Emma Fraser (Jason) and Taylor Gillespie (Daniel); his sister Pamela Cutler of England; and his nephews, Christopher and Nicolas.
Jim also took a keen interest in the S.P.C.A. often providing them with donations and gifts.
