It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Hughie Sim (Westville, Nova Scotia), born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, who passed away on November 1, 2020, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Sim and Effie Mae Sim (MacIsaac); his brother John (Carole); his brothers-in-law, Murray Bishop and Bobby MacEwan; and his father-in-law Mike MacEwan.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Sim (MacEwan); his sons, Mike (Meaghan), Jon (Marla) and Andrew (Lyndsay); his grandchildren, Landon, Lane, Ewan, Avery, Rhys, Jude and Kennedy; his sisters, Florence Bishop, Elizabeth "Betty" Latimer (David) and Isabelle MacGregor (Gary); his mother-in-law Judith MacEwan; his siblings-in-law, Michelle Parsonage (Frank), Lisa Cullen (Brian), Beth MacEwan and Stephen MacEwan; and his goddaughter Jodi Blondon (Sutherland). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held Friday, November 6 at 11am with interment to follow at Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
For those who so choose, donations in memory of Hugh can be directed to the Pictou County Minor Hockey Association (http://www.pcmha.com) where a fund has been established in Hugh's name to support minor hockey coaching.
