It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Smeltzer (Westville, Nova Scotia), born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, who passed away on October 9, 2020, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas "Gus" and Blanche Smeltzer (Boutilier); his wife Deanna (Hughes); and his siblings, Esther Lafferty and John Smeltzer.
He is survived by: his close friend Phyllis Smith; his children, Julie Reynolds (Karl) and Gary; his stepdaughter Carol Ann Rhyno; his grandchildren, Cory, Melanie, Rebecca, Makayla, Ariel, Connor and Kaiden; his great grandchildren, Trenton and Braelynn; his siblings, Betty Sauntry (Ben), Ann Ramsay (Mike), Beverly Rogers (Glen), Ont, Renee Smeltzer (Morris), Stewart (Ruby) and Ardie; his niece Darlene Smeltzer (James Dean); and his brother-in-law Bill Lafferty. He is also survived by several other sisters and brothers-in-law.
