He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Sanford (Weaver) and Lewis Sanford; his sister Helen Sanford; and his wife Lorna Sanford (Sim). He is survived by: his children, Eric Sanford (Brenda), Hoskin Avery and Kelly Avery (Derek); his grandchildren, Corey Avery and Britney Avery; and his great grandchildren, Kiera and Aiden.
