He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shortell and Bellerina Shortell (Albert); and his brothers, Raymond, Robert and Donald.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Shortell (Warner); his children, Robert (Elaine), Raymond (Brenda) and Shelley; his grandchildren, Jason (Holly), Chris (Michelle), Dillon (Madeline) and Cindy (James); and his brother Edward (Sandra).
