He was predeceased by: his parent Ruby Coolen; and his son Shayne. He is survived by: his stepfather Alfred Coolen; his wife Rosalene (Harnish); his children, Darren (Victoria) of Halifax, East River Point of Halifax, Todd of Halifax and Krista (Aki); his grandchildren, Shannon, Melina, Brandel and Matthew; and also Tikkakoski.
