She was predeceased by: her father Clare MacKeil; and her brother-in-law Rick Osborne. She is survived by: her mother Lois MacKeil; her husband Walt; her sons, Jason and Nolan; her grandchildren, Dylan and Keeley; and her siblings, Brenda (Wilfred Jordan), Claudia (Larry Shackleton), Philip (Betty), Michael (Heather) and Stephen (Anne). She is also survived by her brothers, sisters, and in-laws, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia in Mary's honour.
