He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruel Garby and Hazel Garby (Hennigar); his wife Pauline Garby (Hennigar); and his siblings, Laurie, Lewis, Alice Clark and Marion Bernice.

He is survived by: his brother Lew; his children, Roger (Betty), Stellarton, Bruce (Trudy), Ruth (Jim), Parksville B. C., Verna (James) and Upper Kennetcook; his grandchildren, Lisa, Andrea, Brian (Raylene), Stephanie (Martin), Rebecca (Steve), Nicole, Terri (Justin) and Brittany; and his aunt Bertha Soley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
