He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazen Gerald and Beatrice Mae Chapman (Wellwood); his sisters, Leona and Donna; his nephew Ainsley; and his great-nephew Ryan.

He is survived by: his children, Stacey MacKenzie (Jason) of Truro, Crystal Chapman (Courtney Penny) of Truro, George Payne (Suzanne) of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Gerald Payne (Alanna) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; his grandchildren, Shonalee Johnson, Connor MacKenzie, Jeremy Penny, Braxton Penny, Chad Penny, McKenna Penny, Winston Penny, Desiree Payne, Ashley-Rae Payne, Zach Payne, Samantha Mosionier and Shaun Mosionier; his great grandchildren, Conner, Keegan, Quinten, Kaydence and Ryan; his siblings, George, Eldon, David, Geraldine, Shirley, Doreen, Gail, Esther and Nova; and his former wife Margaret Raynes (Glenda Havenga Clow). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
