He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Shearer and Dorothy Shearer (McNutt); his wife Helen (Potter); his brothers, David Shearer and Larry Shearer (Glenna); and his brother-in-law Woody Graham.

He is survived by: his sons, Paul Shearer and Craig Shearer (Brenda); his grandson Noah Shearer (Holly Promislow); his sons, Brayden Shearer and Caleb Shearer; his siblings, Keith Shearer (Joan), Wayne Shearer (Dianne) and Ruth Graham; and his sister-in-law Ruth Shearer (Tidnish). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
