He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hingley and Susan Hingley (MacCabe); and his siblings, Marjorie, Muriel, Annie, Bertha, Eileen, Norma, Parker, Russell, Preston, Ronnie, Flemming and Earl.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia (Higgins); his daughter Virginia Hingley (Marlene Wells); his grandsons, Kevin Hagell (Dana) and Scott Hagell; his stepchildren, Paula Sadlier (Kristopher), Jody Gorman (Tina) and Randy Gorman (Edith); his stepgrandchildren, Nicholas Gorman, Brooke Vance (Matthew), Tyler Gorman and Summer Sadlier; his siblings, Maxine Shearer, Robert Hingley (Pat), Laurie Hingley (Carol) and Wellington; and his sisters-in-law, Grace Hingley and Wilma Hingley. He is also survived by many nieces and, nephews.
If so desired, donations in Ernie's memory to Kemptown United Church Cemetery, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 (Building Fund) or Colchester SPCA are welcomed.
