He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Eileen (Chisholm); his parents, Douglas Purdy and Hannah Purdy (Crawford); his son-in-law Fredrick Bird; his parents-in-law, Harvey and Nellie Chisholm; his sisters, Mable Doucet (Jack), Florence Ripley (Lloyd), Muriel Sprinks (David), Olive Anderson (Carl), Annie and Thomas Gates; and his siblings-in-law, Chipman Chisholm and Annie Gates (Thomas).
He is survived by: his children, Lorna Bird and Douglas Purdy; his grandchild Jackie Bird (Dwight Newbury); his daughter Katie Goodwin (Robin); his great grandchildren, Owen Goodwin, Heidi Newbury and Leah Newbury; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Chisholm; and his nieces and nephews, Willard Ripley, Muriel Ripley, Heather Seccombe, Albert Doucet, John Doucet, Marie Barnes, Sheila Doucet, Lynn Gates, Richard Gates, Larry Gates, Cathy Gordon, George Chisholm, Eddy Chisholm and John Chisholm.
