He was predeceased by: his parent Frank; his brothers, Vernon Anderson, Ronald Cornett, Peter Cornett, Frank Cornett, Bruce Cornett and Dorman Cornett; his half-brothers, Arthur Cornett and John Cornett; and his sisters, Sylvia Silver and Shirley Cornett.

He is survived by: his parent Lena (Anderson); his wife Judy (Livingstone); his children, Robert of Trenton and Jean Champion; his grandchildren, Synthia and Erica; and his siblings, Lloyd Cornett, Leonard Cornett, John Cornett, Georgina Silver, Beatrice Cornett and Irma Slager. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
