He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cavan and Violet Cavan (Byrne); his sisters, Phyllis Caven, Olive Schuman and Alison Ruminak; and his parents-in-law, Robert and Rachel Moore.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia (Moore); his sons, Gary, Paul (Sherrie) and Robert (Kim); his grandsons, Brett, Christian, Jacob, Aiden, Liam and Riley Caven; his siblings, June King (Fritz), Eric, Monty Caven and England; his sisters-in-law, Rae Montgomery (John), Sandra Wallace (James) and Northern Ireland; his cousin Kenneth Rea; and his nieces and nephews, Northern Ireland and Austria.
