He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Joseph and Mary Ellen Gillis (Hutchings); his wife Carol (Brightman); his siblings, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Jim, George, Danny, Ronnie and Harvey; his stepson Derrick Brightman; and his grandson Liam Chisholm.
He is survived by: his children, George "Bud" Gillis (Jennifer), Tara Gillis (Joseph Poirier), Trenton, Chad Gillis (Samantha Leeming) and Kemptown; his grandchildren, Jeff, Jacqueline, George, Jacob, Danika, Hudson, Harper, Logan, Erik and Autumn; his great grandchildren, Blake, Huckson, Jett, Rayne and Charlotte; and his siblings, Eileen MacPherson (William), Ont, Lorraine MacLeod (Fraser), Trenton and Dougald Gillis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
