roger lemmon wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Gayle and family, sorry to hear of Johns' passing but we are glad you enjoyed some retirement years on Cape Breton. Your visits at our diner, Donna Mae's were always wonderful and appreciated. John was so kind and helped me greatly with an employees education. Bless you both always and I wish I could cook for you again (especially your favorite soups) Sincerely, Roger and Donna Lemmon”

“Gayle and Family, I was so very saddened to hear of John's passing. He was a force-of-nature in terms of promoting and developing the college, and a fascinating man too. I wish you peace during this difficult time. – E.P. Chant, (retired) Managing Editor of Student Publications, St. Clair College”
