He was predeceased by: his parents, Heber and Hattie (Hewitt) of Whitney Pier; his significant other Aggie (MacNeil); his siblings, Mildred Murphy (Sam) and Roger (Thelma); and his nephew Brian Lake.
He is survived by: his children, Wanda (late Lorne Gillis) and Howard (Kim); his grandchildren, David (Meagan), Lorna (Mark), Kaitlin (Liam), Jonathan (Breagh) and Matthew (Ashley); and his great grandchildren, McKenna, Everly Gillis, Aiden, Callan and Mairi McCormick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Howie can be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
