He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel MacCoy (Smith) and W. Ritchie MacCoy; his sister Marjorie Van Vliet (Bobbie); and his nephew Gordon Van Vliet. He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his sons, Ken (Betty) of Chilliwack, B. C., Doug (Rhonda) of Waterdown and Ritchie (Kathy) of Sydney; his grandchildren, Gordon (Semi) of Seoul, Jonathan of Halifax, Jason of Vancouver Island, B. C. and Annie of Sydney; his great grandchild Abigail of Halifax; his nephew David Van Vliet (Sheila) of Calgary, AB; his niece Ainslie Thomson (Bill) of Nassau; and his sister-in-law Doreen Logan of Dartmouth.

Private Burial, Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Requested Charity.
