She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Sutherland and Rebecca Sutherland (MacDonald). She is survived by: her husband Richard; her daughter Suzanna; and her siblings, Elsie Mackinnon (late Joe Mackinnon), Florence Sutherland (Lindsay), Michael (Margaret), Donnie (Rose), Fraser (Bonnie), Robert and Sandy (Nancy). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the Alderwood Guest Home or the Gaelic Council of Nova Scotia (Comhairle na Gaidhlig) to a charity of your choice.
