He was predeceased by: his parents, Moise Chiasson and Mary Chiasson (Fraser); and his sister Bernadette Sturgess. He is survived by: his wife Eileen Chiasson (MacDougall); his son Stephen (Lydia); his grandchildren, Kelly and Angus; his daughters, Lesley Treichel (Cory) and Annette White; his grandchildren, Olympia, Alexandria and David Dunn Jr. Phonse; and his brother Dr. Rolland Chiasson (Gayle).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Phonse Chiasson Choral Music Bursary in his honor to be awarded to a student in a music program in university.
