He was predeceased by: his father Patrick Alan Gillis; his aunt Katie; his uncle Mickey; and his cousin Marilyn. He is survived by: his children, Emily (Nathan), Sarah (Melbert), Katie-May (Jackie), Steven, Joseph and Michael; his grandchildren, Autumn, Seth, Emmett, Lukey and Wesley; and his close friend Deborah Markham. He is also survived by his mother and many siblings.
