She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Carey and Sadie Carey (Pentz); her husband Kenneth; and her siblings, Isabel, Phyllis (Fraser), Catherine (Rudderham), Sophie (Tucker), Thomas, John, Raymond and Donald.
She is survived by: her children, John Carey, Bras, Richard (Laureen Shebib), Corrina, Rebecca (Josh Gracie) and Sydney Mines; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jeffrey, Melissa (Matt Ward), Sarah and Chloe; her great grandchildren, Ethan and Alexander; her siblings, Sonny (Pat), George, Ellen Marg Phillips (Allister), Alfred, Gladys Howell (Fred), Auley (Ella) and Joe Glen (Michelle); and her niece Tracey Inder. She is also survived by nephews, relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Cape Breton in Martha's memory.
