John Alexander MacNeil Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Alexander MacNeil (Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia), born in Florence, Nova Scotia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 27, 2024 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander MacNeil and Hughena MacNeil (MacDonald); his wife Sadie MacNeil (Caine) of Fife's Brook; his son Thomas MacNeil; his daughters-in-law, Maureen MacNeil (Haley) and Mary MacNeil (Reashor); his grandson Glen MacNeil; and his siblings, Matilda Mackenzie (James), Christina Stubert (William), Malcolm MacNeil (Lillian), Chester MacNeil (Nancy) and Harry MacNeil.
He is survived by: his sons, John MacNeil Jr., Lewis MacNeil (Wanda) and Millville. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home (8 Clyde Ave, Sydney Mines, NS B1V2E4). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory may be made to the Cape Breton Hospice/Palliative Care Society.
