She was predeceased by: her parents, James Butts and Mary Ester Butts; her husband Albert Vincent Rice; and her siblings, James, Ernie, Lily, Violet, Doraella, Janie, Ruby, Alice, Gertie and Doris.
She is survived by: her friend Cape Breton; her children, Albert (Vonda), James (Sandra), Walter (Colleen), Lily (Rick Tomanek), Dianne MacPherson, Ester (Steve Woods), Gale (Roy Williams), Rubyann (Denis Filion) and Darlene (Steve Haggett); and her sisters, Ada Manzuk (Rocky) and Ester Tremblett. She is also survived by her nine children and a large contingent of grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Sydney Regional Hospital.
