He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Sommers and Mary Sommers (Harris); his parents-in-law, Violet and Donald Caldwell; his sisters, Selena, Jenny, Julia and Dora; his siblings-in-law, Donald Caldwell Jr., Allan Caldwell, Frank MacKinnon, George Gale, Maisie Caldwell and Rose Caldwell (Keigan); and his niece Mary Pearo (Sommers).
He is survived by: his significant other Betty (Caldwell); his children, Donald Sydney Mines (Shawna), Gail Prince George (Lyle), Stewart and Linda (Matt); his grandsons, Gregory Sommers Westmount (Danielle) and Matthew Skinner (Payton); his great grandchild Emmett Sommers; his pets, Oreo, Raz, Ruger and Misty; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Toronto (Armand Sanguigni) and Stewart Caldwell (Goretti). He is also survived by 5 children and was pampered by his mother and 4 sisters, many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
