He was predeceased by: his parents, George Pettis and Mary Pettis (Hardy); and his sister Mary. He is survived by: his significant other Judy Donato; his children, Tina, Aubrey and Troy; his grandchildren, Katilin, Haley, Vanessa, Justin and MacKenzie of Ontario; and his siblings, Kelvin (Jean) and Ead (Ted). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
