He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gillespie and Margaret Gillespie; and his brother William. He is survived by: his significant other Mary Catherine Campbell; his siblings, Brian (Liz) and Marion (Brendan); his children, Carey, Rachel, Erin and Ryan; his stepdaughters, Danielle and Heather; his grandchildren, Lewis, Lucy, Emily G., Sam, Emily L., James, Cayden and Kingsley; and his friend Melanie Higgins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Sydney Mines .Memorial donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Patient Care Fund.
