He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary McDonald (Daly) and John McDonald of Atlantic St; and his sisters, Marguerite Grant, Doris McDonald, Lorraine and Mary.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tanya MacDonald (Jim), Laura MacDonald and Cheryl Astle (Tim); his granddaughters, Rebecca and Erica; his siblings, Andrew, Irene Polkowski, Christina Brown (Paul), John (Nathalie), Leonard, Michael (Dee) and Marian Turner (Tom); and his wife Margaret Lomond. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private visitation will be held on Saturday in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
